Can i install nail down hardwood flooring over a single layer of linoleum tile?

Yes if the vinyl is glued directly to the subfloor. This will used as the layer you need between the hard wood and the sub floor. There is a catch though. If the vinyl is over a wood substrate ( usually 1/4'; luan) then you have to et a minimum 2 1/4 '; staple or cleat ( how ever your putting the hard wood down) The staple or cleat must go all the way through the sob floor to properly attach. So you must either use a long nail/staple or pull the luan and vinyl up and then use a rosin paper or felt.

Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. I ve attended several installation classes as well as installed several 1000 s/f of hard woodCan i install nail down hardwood flooring over a single layer of linoleum tile?
You most certainly can. I would make sure the squeeks are quited by screwing your sub floor down in ';soft'; areas where the floor may flex but aside from that nail away! Good luck! Can i install nail down hardwood flooring over a single layer of linoleum tile?
