What would happen if I installed a glue/nail down floor as a floating floor over a concrete sub floor?

It will come apart and fail in a matter of no time.. With no locking system to hold it together all the joints will simple come apart, even if you were to glue them together.

You need to glue it to the slab.. The glue will also act as your vapor barrier..

Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar..GLWhat would happen if I installed a glue/nail down floor as a floating floor over a concrete sub floor?
Mike, I thing you are heading for problems. You must have 3/4'; solid hardwood? This floor is not meant for concrete. To use it you must seal the concrete with a liquid concrete sealer. Then put down heavy plastic, then put in 2 x 4 s treated for moisture on 16'; centers, then 1/2'; sub floor plywood. then you must seal the hardwood on the bottom side. Then you can nail down the hardwood. The entire project may still fail. Better to return the solid wood and get engineered wood made for over concrete. What would happen if I installed a glue/nail down floor as a floating floor over a concrete sub floor?
Unless it was engineered for that purpose the humidity in the concrete would make it buckle.
