Dogs swollen thumb nail on her front paw. what can i give her to get the swelling to go down?

My dog was playing outside and jumped up at the fence and pulled the nail on her right front paw, the thumb nail. She didn't brake it or crack it or anything but i hurt her. She's licked it a lot and it has gotten pretty swollen. What can i give her to make the swelling go down? She is a medium dog(30-40lbs) and she is a 4yr old pit bull terrier mix. thanks!Dogs swollen thumb nail on her front paw. what can i give her to get the swelling to go down?
You can put an ice pak on it. It is possible that your dog fractured her toe. She should be fine though. It will heal it will just take maybe over a week. If you want you can ask your vet if you can give a Tylenol for the pain. It is OK in dogs but not in cats. You vet can tell you how much to give according to the dogs weight...if they agree some vets won't give advice without seeing the dog.Dogs swollen thumb nail on her front paw. what can i give her to get the swelling to go down?
OK. Put hydrogen peroxide on it to get rid of infection, it won't hurt her if she licks it. Put ice on it in a bag, let her sniff the bag and see it before you do anything as to not scare her. And make her comfortable while she sleeps, put her paw on a pillow unless she sleeps on it then it is OK too.
Dogs do NOT have ';thumbs';!! LOL!

They have DEWCLAWS %26amp; should have been removed at 3-5 DAYS old for JUST that reason!
Ask the vet if you can give your dog benadryl. If yes benadril+ice should do the trick.
i think it would be ok to give it a anti-inflammatory liquid two times a day but if you call the vet they will give you the exact dossage needed
You can put pyroxide on it but I would give the dog a very small dose of benadryl and then put a sock over her paw to stop her from messing with it then lay her down and hold ice over the sock.

Hope it helps
